I know, I know that I am putting it out here directly even before I started explaining you why I am doing this, but many of you came here just for the list, so scroll down to check out the list. So here’s the best sites for free stock photos, videos, illustrations, and sounds.

What is the most difficult thing for a small business? We feel, it is ‘Everything’. Promotion and Marketing activities is one of them. We know that with surety, because we have worked with many small businesses. Free resources for business helps with the much needed boost for their online marketing activities and promotion. So, I thought, why not build a list of resources that will actually help! I came up with the thought that there are some expensive stock photo sites which are not within the reach of majority of the people.

Small business owners have passion but passion doesn’t earn money unless it is converted into a product or service. The hurdle to this passion is usually the lack of funding, customer base or auxillary components that aid the business. We like to provide the auxillary component of marketing services to the small scale businesses who are on their own or have very limited budget to grow exponentially like big businesses.

This post is a conscious effort to help those small businesses, be it selling vegetables online or to sell motivational classes online to be a big business. The resources listed here will have their own licenses, so please make sure to check that before using any of the resources from the listed sites.

How To Sell Homemade Food Online Using Zomato And Swiggy?

How To Sell Homemade Food Online Using Zomato And Swiggy?

Even before CoVid-19 pandemic came into existence, there used to be a group of budding entrepreneurs who wanted to cook home-made food and sell it to their beloved customers. A handful few in your network might have managed to sell their food online. But the only question that many other people came across was how can they set up a food business from home and sell it on food aggregators like Zomato and Swiggy? The answer is not that difficult. Let us explain further –

One of the many questions that people feel whether it is legal to sell homemade food online? The answer is, yes! You can sell food online. About legalities, you need a FSSAI registration for selling food online. If you are wondering why we need to register with FSSAI for selling food even if it is cooked at home, it is because of the Food Safety and Security Act, 2006. The license criteria is based on the annual turnover of the business. If your business has an annual turnover of Rs. 12 lacs and lesser, you will just need a registration for a fee of Rs. 100 per annum. If the turnover is above 12 Lacs, you will need to have a state license with a fee of Rs. 2000 per annum.

You can read more in this PDF file from FSSAI: Business Eligibility

You can also check out how to register with FSSAI.

If you need assistance, our team can help you in the process of registration. Please contact us at hello@getmarketingfit.com

A point to note is that food delivery platforms like Zomato and Swiggy will require FSSAI license from you for listing your business on their platforms. This is a government mandated requirement.

Now the big question: How to sell home cooked food online?

I am pretty sure you might have come to this page after doing your fair share of research and also, you might have fixed the food items to sell online. So, you can start with one of three channels or all the three channels: Sell on Zomato, Swiggy or through WhatsApp.

The people who run a food business are called Food Business Operators, and every FBO needs to have some of these documents (some of them are mandatory) for running a business.

Some general requirements for FBOs :

  • FSSAI/ Food License
  • Health Trade License from your local municipal office
  • Shop & Establishments as per your state requirements
  • GST registration
  • Fire Department NOC, etc.

Check specific business requirements from the delivery partners below.

How to sell my homemade food on Zomato?

What better way to sell your heart-filled product on one of the highly acclaimed food delivery partners, Zomato! The food delivery giant which acquired another prominent business Uber Eats can be your choice of delivery partner. The process of registering your business for home cooked delicacies on Zomato is not that difficult. You can sell it as an individual business from home or you can sell it as a cloud kitchen.

You need to register with the following documents on Zomato:

  1. FSSAI certificate (application no. if FSSAI is not present)
  2. PAN Card
  3. GST certificate (if applicable)
  4. Current/ Savings Bank account details (Account Number, IFSC details etc.)

Once you have kept the documents ready, register your business by clicking ‘Register your restaurant’ at this page: Add a restaurant – Zomato

Remember that creating a page on Zomato is free,  but they charge commissions from orders that you receive from your customers. Besides, the average order value for the food to be delivered free on Zomato is generally more than Rs. 250. Once you register, you can manage all your orders on their restaurant partner mobile app and restaurant partner desktop app.

I have known owners who have praised Zomato for their customer support while listing their businesses.

How to register on Swiggy for homemade food?

If you are registering on Zomato, why not try Swiggy too? Swiggy is one of the neck-throat competitors in the food delivery partners business. There are loyal fan-base for both these apps and you should definitely register your business with Swiggy.

Keep the following documents ready before you start registering with Swiggy:

  • FSSAI License copy
  • Aadhar copy (for KYC)
  • Your Restaurant Menu
  • Bank Details
  • GSTIN (optional)
  • PAN card copy
  • Cancelled Cheque
  • Business location details

Once you have all the documents set and ready, go to Sign Up screen at : Partner With Us – Swiggy

Remember that there is a one-time onboarding fee which is taken from your weekly payouts when you start receiving orders on Swiggy. The commission fees vary from city-to-city and you will be shown the fees during the registration process after completion of some steps. Basically it can vary from 4% to 25% on various factors. It takes upto 7 – 10 business working days for Swiggy to get your business live on their platform. As a business partner, you also have to finish watching their tutorial videos on how their app interface works.

If you want to reach their customer support, give a call on 080-67466777/68179777 or write to their email support at – partnersuport@swiggy.in

What about WhatsApp? Can we sell homemade food through WhatsApp?

Yes, WhatsApp being the most easy way to interact with a customer, has been the most common way to get customers for homemade food business owners. I have personally witnessed businesses running on WhatsApp delivering a multitude of dishes and sometimes preparing special dishes on special holidays. The one-on-one correspondence makes WhatsApp the best way to get feedback from your customers. The Business WhatsApp App offers more than the normal WhatsApp App. You can register your number on the Business Whatsapp and create catalogues (menus) for your homemade dishes.

Some big advantages are that you can keep WhatsApp stories to show your cooked meals and show important notifications, accept payment through WhatsApp pay which is an in-app payment feature, display menu and contact customers directly for any change in the orders. One way that I observed from seasoned food business owners was that they kept the available food items menu as their stories and communicated through WhatsApp Status about the dishes that were available or not available. This used to be done daily and when the business ran low, they used to directly approach the customers to order soon. Not only that, a dedicated group used to be active for that business that used to inform all the customers about the current statuses of their business and the orders were taken from there as well. This acted as a social proof and an assurance for others who might be hesitating to buy items from that business.

20201101 Instagram growth strategy for bakers and cake makers

If you are a sweetilicious cake maker, then you should definitely have an Instagram Business account. But, having an Instagram account is not enough. Having good engagement is the key. I repeat, the key to a good business is having customers and prospective customers to keep engaging with your content. Just posting pictures with no relevance is not gonna benefit you much but, the right strategy will. I will list out some significant points that you can use to build your business stronger. If you run a bakery and a cakeshop, this is just for you.

Upgrade your Instagram Bio to an exquisite level

Make sure you have a wonderful bio. Your customers and fans do tend to visit your profile a lot than you can expect. Having a wonderful bio do keep your fans on their toes. How you can improve your bio? Keep it simple or complicated, but make sure to display your brand or your personality in those words. It can be humorous, interesting, intriguing and colourful.
You should definitely use some of the emojis and symbols wherever possible. Add some of your relevant links in the bio and tag your personal account if you want to display who is running the brand to your fans. Add a branded hashtag that you created just for your own sweet business.
You can change the font in your bio as well. To do that, check out the links below.

Note: Make sure you are satisfied with the font before confirming your changes because Instagram doesn’t allow to change your username more than twice within 14 days. To change the username again, you can do so after 14 days.

If you have multiple links to display, you can also use the Linktree Service (Snapshot below) . Here’s the link to their service: Linktree

Perfect Captions to go with your product.

If you are putting a post online and there is no caption, then it will lack a soul. Your caption should encapsulate the meaning of the picture being posted. We have already created a post on ” The art of writing a perfect caption every single time on Instagram“. Check this article to write beautiful captions that can go along with your posts.
Do not forget to tag people whom you are delivering the cake to drive good engagement.

First impression(s) definitely matter for your audience

Instagram is a visual medium and people come there for the warmth of their eyes. Being noticed in the crowd is the first step to gain attention. Your pictures need to tell major part of the story that you are going to weave. Being said that, DO NOT POST PICTURES which are IRRELEVANT to your business. You may end up losing some of your followers if they find your account to be deviating from the topics that they actually followed you for.

I cannot emphasise more on the fact that good pictures are a must for good resonance with your actual sweet creation. The basics of photography is always about lights, backdrop and subject (your cake in this case). You can invest some money to get some accessories for the setup to set a beautiful background for your cake to be the centerpiece. If you are creative enough, you can use the household things for creating amazing setups as well.
Here are some beautiful tutorials how to take beautiful pictures of your cake: 1. Expert Photography 2. Sally’s Baking Addiction 3. Pretty Witty Academy

I have included some videos that you may find useful.

Value the engagement more than anything

If your fans and customers engage (like, comment, share, save, etc.) more with your content, it will make your business flourish more. If you are a believer of having a good following over engagement, then let me tell you that your efforts of expanding the business through Instagram will be in vain. Target your activities more on engagements as better engagement will lead to better following anyway.
There are various engagement rate for various amount of reach or follower count. Here’s an Engagement calculator to check your engagement rate.

Engagement rate of 8% or more is considered a good rate.

Engagement rate of 5.5% and above is considered performing very well.

Engagement rate of 2.4% and above is considered performing very well.

Engagement rate of 2.1% and above is considered performing good as per average industrial standards.

Engagement rate of 1.7% and above is considered performing very well as per average industrial standards.

Engagement rate of 1.2% and above is considered performing good as per average industrial standards.

Content is the KING

Best content grabs the eye of your customers. Instagram provides you with multiple ways to post content on its platform (viz., posts, stories, reels, videos, IGTV, carousel posts, Ads, etc.).

Utilise stories to the maximum as Instagram users are getting more interested in people’s lives and 24 hours of visibility makes the content look fresh and updated. So leverage Instagram Stories. Want an easy way to make Instagram Stories? Use Canva.
We have been using the Free elements in Canva for almost all our graphic editing needs. Here’s the link : Canva (Disclosure: the link contains a referral id).

We have also created a Free Resources Mega list if you are interested. It contains a long list of stock photo sources, illustration sources, stock video sources, etc.: Free resources that you can use for growing your business to an exceptional level.

If you are on Pinterest and want to know much more, we have created a Pinterest board for cake makers and bakery owners: Here’s the link to the board: Getmarketingfit on Pinterest – Instagram strategy for Bakery and Cake makers

Hashtags that increase reach

Hashtags’ prime functionality is to help index your content. I won’t bring complex jargons here to confuse you. We have made a kickass tutorial for that. But how to choose the best hashtag?
Use our FREE Hashtag Generator(Check out our Menu Bar button on the top with the name – ‘ ❤️Hashtag Generator ‘ .

Click the button below on how to find the best hashtags for use on Instagram. In short, the hashtag strategy suggests to use relevant hashtags related to content only, location based hashtags, product based hashtags (for e.g. chocolate cake), and brand-based hashtags. The Hashtag generator will help you see the actual no. of times a particular hashtag has been used on Instagram and it only contains the top 30 hashtags.

Sponsored Ads help increase reach

There are ways to reach organic growth to a very good level but with sponsored ads, you can accelerate this process. If you build your cake making business on Instagram the organic way simultaneously with Ad promotions, the results are explosively amazing. We have tried this approach with our clients and we surely know it works. We know that budget constraints pull you down to go the extra mile and approaching an Ad agency for the same might push many of the small cake shop owners off the edge. That’s why, we made a simple tutorial for you to run your own ads without any ad agency’s help. Make sure you optimise the ads along the way. You can click the button below to know how to run ads.

We have been working with some cake business owners and one of them is Saira’s Kitchen. Here’s her profile: @sairaskitchen.in

She is an amazing baker who turned the sweet business into a huge success by working her plans out in this pandemic.
You can check her profile for amazing treats that she bake.
She has increased her followers from 250ish to 1.5K+ in a period of 3 months.

Most of her success is from her consistent efforts to post content and of course, making delicacies. We tested out various hashtags for her cake posts together with bakery items posts on croissants, cookies, variants of cakes and pizza. The organic growth was pretty much overwhelming and she performed very well. Now she’s a proud entrepreneur with amazing cake making skills.

Note: This is not a paid promotion, but an appreciation mention of one of our early acquaintances.

Consistency is the game

Without consistency of posting content on Instagram regularly is a huge NO. Not because I am telling you, but because it is true. Followers expect you to post regularly and consistently. I have seen people posting content regularly, with the same vigour every day. They reaped the benefits as well.

Consistency is the biggest challenge in the organic growth and you have to take care of it wisely or else you will lose traction of your engagements. Creating content in advance is the best way to tackle this challenge. Do not publish any of your posts without a caption. Even though Instagram is a visual medium, some people do read your caption. They love the story behind the picture. So , give them a compelling story.

Everyone needs proof

A business with the proof of success works wonder. If people invest something, they need returns. So, give them one. Add testimonials to your Instagram Stories and tag your customers on the posts. Customers also feel involved in helping you to grow and if they like it, they will oblige to write you a testimonial. Leverage word-of-mouth(WOM), as WOM is still one of the most important marketing growth hack that can never be replaced. So, show your potential customers why you are the most liked cake maker out there.

Get a bakery website of your own

Once you manage to grow your business, you can invest some decent amount to get a website of your own where you can showcase the cake designs, testimonials from your clients and even go the e-commerce way to let customers buy directly from your website. If you do want to check out some bakery website designs, check this link for 62 Bakery website designs by ColorWhistle : Click here for – Bakery Website Design Ideas and Inspirations

If you are unsure whether to invest money to get a website, you can try Free website creation tools like WordPress.com, Wix.com, Google My Business and many more.

If you are wondering why ‘No. 2 Instagram strategy …’ as the title then the answer is simple; there will be no single way to get the best results. The best will come out from your own experimentations. So keep experimenting to get the best results 🙂

how to run instagram ads on my own

There are so many ad agencies that run Instagram Ads for their clients. But budget problems prove to be a downfall for small businesses. Their product/service promotions and reach is severely deprived. We have been getting a lot of queries for running ads from small businesses and due to their budget constraints, their growth kept diminishing with rising costs. But we wanted to help them sincerely with something that they can try out themselves. The whole purpose of this tutorial is to let our beloved audience learn. We were at that stage when we were growing and came across the question on ‘how to run Instagram ads on my own ? ‘. We utilised the power of running campaigns ourselves and made this little tutorial for you. Shall we try it out?

Before we proceed, one thing to be noted is that you DON’T need an Instagram account to run Ads on Instagram. If you are promoting your Ads on Instagram, you don’t necessarily need to own an Instagram account. Although it is a good practice to have an account so as to build a community of people for your product/service using that account.

Access Ad Manager

1st Step
: Go to your Ad manager by clicking ‘Ads’ on the left side of your personal Facebook Account. You can also go to Business Manager by clicking the button below and logging in with your login credentials. You can access Ads manager there as well.

Access Ad manager
If you already have an Instagram account but, not connected to a business manager account, then here’s a way to do it : Add an Instagram account to your Business Manager

Once you are inside the Ad manager, you can see a host of options, for instance, you can see the status of the ad campaigns, various ad sets and ads.
Once you start running ads, you can see tabular details and get a customised report as well.

We suggest Pixabay to our audience a lot. We have used a lot of pictures from Pixabay for our projects. You can download pictures in some of the resolutions that doesn’t need signup and is sufficient for online use. Signup is required to download very high resolution pictures like print media. You can access more than 2.5 million high quality images from Pixabay. If you think that’s all, then Pixabay can pack quite a handful punch with other media files on our face! They have a huge library for illustrations, videos, vectors, music, and sound effects. The art of writing a perfect caption every single time on Instagram

the art of writing perfect caption

We have been getting queries on how to write the most fascinating captions for Instagram posts. So, we thought why not give the perfect guide to write the caption that encourages engagement by viewers. So, here’s a tutorial to write perfect caption on Instagram.

Things to consider before you start writing a caption

There are certain things you need  to consider before writing the best caption out there for your profile. It includes knowing your brand, your product and your audience.

Knowing your brand – What does your brand means as a company? The values it hold dear to you and your consumers/viewers ?

Example : Food brand – Freshness of the product, health benefits, on-time delivery, etc.
Photographers – Visual treat, thought-provoking graphics, entertaining pictures, capturing nature in its glory, etc.

You should know your brand in and out.

Knowing your product – The product that you serve should be well-versed by you, its know-how should be well communicated to your viewers.

Example: Marketing Services- Branding Services, Instagram Consultancy services, Hashtag support, etc.
Sports brand: Sports equipment,  sports coaching and playing spaces, etc.

The better you know your product, the better you can communicate, promote your product/service to your consumers and viewers.

Knowing your viewers – It is always better to know your audience very well. You can’t predict their behaviour, but you can identify the right kind of audience after making careful observations about their interactions on your platform. Go for trial and error method to see what is the perfect caption on Instagram for you. Which kind of post or caption works for your audience can be known only through your own experiments and results. Failing and learning is the key here.

Example: Cake Shop – The audience here mostly will be sweet tooth viewers or viewers who would like to buy a cake from your brand to give their loved ones. You posting about cake, baking and cooking based posts will help garner better interactions than you posting on vegetables and their therapeutic usage, or something which is off-topic even when it is of the same food-based industry. Stick to your niche.

Be specific in what you want to convey the audience.

With the boom of social media, the average attention-span has became very short, so, you just have very few moments to capture your audience’s attention.

Instagram allows 125 words to be displayed on the screen of your viewers and anything more than that is truncated which can be seen only when you click on ‘…more‘ to read the further description.

So, your call to action should be in those 125 words.

precise caption

Some of the ways to add a caption

Short caption example

You can keep the caption short if the image speaks for itself and no explanation is needed.

You can keep a balanced caption where image description can be described in brief and a little bit of hashtags can be added in the caption itself.

medium sized caption example
long caption example

You can also keep it descriptive and explain the back story or the procedure or its significance. Make it long and captivating, and your loyal viewers will read through to understand what the post is about. Some people want to experience the post, so make it interesting so that your viewers can experience at least a fraction of what your post is about.

You can add a question in your caption to ask your followers and let them respond to increase engagement.

You can include other Instagram account holders by using ‘ @ ‘ mention and ask for their opinion on things related to your post.

Use some Call-to-Action so that you can encourage users to take some action as per your requirements.

Quick Summary

So, let’s do a summary of what we can learn from this caption series. We will also add a list of websites that you can refer for getting ready made captions. (2500+ captions)

1. Know what your brand is about and add captions related to your product for the kind of viewers you have.

2. You can add a short caption if the image explains most of it.

3. You can add a medium-sized caption of around 125-200 words and throw in some important hashtags.

4. You can add a long descriptive caption with details and captivating text to make your viewers understand the depth of the post.

5. Make sure to add important call to action within the first 125 words so as to prevent important stuff being buried under ‘…more‘.

The Perfect Hashtag Guide To Grow Organically On Instagram

The Perfect Hashtag Guide To Grow Organically On Instagram

how to grow organically on instagram

If you ever came across a problem of posting an image and not getting enough likes on Instagram, then you might be doing something incorrect. We came up with the hashtag guide because many of our clients were facing the problem of not getting hashtags for generating likes. There are lots of organic ways to grow on Instagram and increase your engagement rate. We will be discussing a few in this post. However, using hashtags just for the likes is not the right approach towards sharing your content; it should be used to increase the reach, but provide quality content to go with it.

Hashtags

We all know that adding relevant hashtags is a good idea to make your content visible to a lot of people. Let’s go into a little depth.

Why Hashtags ?

This symbol ‘#’ (also known as a number sign/hash sign/pound sign) as a prefix of any word makes it a hashtag on many social media channels. This helps you to check posts which have the same hashtags. You can click the #hashtag to show more contents based on the same hashtag. You can leverage the knowledge of putting the right hashtag to gain more exposure leading to more engagement activities.

hashtags

Instagram allows 30 hashtags per post in the caption section. Utilize it fully. Ensure that your profile is ‘Public’ for better exposure.

What is the right way to add hashtags?

Let us give you a diplomatic answer, ” There is no right way or wrong way to add a hashtag”. Which is true in many sense. But we will give you a better answer: “There are many ways that a good set of hashtags can work as a benefiting factor to your post and non-relevant hashtags won’t work good or may backfire totally.” Remember that the best hashtags will help you to grow organically on Instagram with genuine engagements.

So how to add hashtags ?

We will go a little more into depth as you progress reading this. For starters, your content is the answer to this. If it is about food, add major hashtags related to food based posts. For e.g. #food #foodporn #foodie #foodstagram #foodgasm #foodblogger #foodpics #foodphotography #foodlover #foodpic #foodies

Make it relevant to the post you are sharing. Adding a hashtag which is not even related to the post will be disapproved by your followers in the long run. Imagine posting a photo of a cake and adding the hashtags, #mechanicallife #nasa #oneminuteissixtyseconds . This looks like a disaster but may still work if it is related to any of the event that cake photo was taken for.

Location-based hashtags

You can add location based hashtags as people who are checking out posts which are tagged with location specific hashtags can make it a whole lot better for you. How ? It’s simple, they will go through your post too when they see your post on the Instagram explorer hash-tagged with the location keyword. For e.g.: #Mumbai #newyork #newyorkcity #NewYorker #newyorknewyork #newyorkfashion and so.

location based hashtag

Brand-based hashtags

If you are a brand, brand manager or an influencer, you can put brand related hashtags to make it more personal to your viewers. For e.g., we run marketing tips for people, so we like to put hashtags on our posts like : #getmarketingfit #marketingfitness #gettingfitinmarketing and so on.

Few more examples would be like : #nike #justdoit #adidas #haters_gonna_hate #mcdonalds #imjustlovinit etc.

Getmarketingfit

Product/Service-based hashtags

If you have product or a service to offer, add relevant hashtags related to them as well. For instance, let’s say you bake cake for business, then you can add hashtags like : #bakerylife #bakers #bakersofinstagram #cake #cakes #cakeart ##pastries #sugar #flour and many more.

Summary for hashtags

To put everything into perspective for hashtags from this post, we can suggest you a few points:

1. Post your contents which are appealing to your viewers and add hashtags relevant to that particular post and your brand ONLY.

2. Add location-based hashtags

3. Add brand-based hashtags

4. Add product/service- based hashtags

You can use this format :
Add a nice caption and then follow this method of adding hashtags as below.

[ four to five hashtags for your brand/personal account] [ five to ten hashtags for the product/service] [ four to five hashtags for the location]

If you are a person/brand who doesn’t like to add too much hashtags in the caption, then you can add your hashtags in the comment section of your post.

P.S.: Our trick to grow ogranically on instagram is creating engaging contents, sharing it with the right set of people and utilizing the best set of hashtags. Even though you can add 30 hashtags, we prefer adding less than 25 and more than 11 hashtags for our posts. We also add our own branded hashtag #getmarketingfit.

Let’s take an example for adding hashtags to your post.

#getmarketingfit #gettingfit #marketingfit #instagramgrowth
