Bigbasket charges around 13-35 percent commission on products depending on various factors and negotiation between the seller and the platform. You need to inform them (Bigbasket) whether your product needs refrigeration, which in case of vegetables, refrigeration might be needed. How to start selling vegetables on Grofers (Blinkit)

For selling on Grofers, you have to register your business on their website portal at sellers.grofers.com. You have to complete your profile details and then submit an application about all the products that you want to offer as well as the locations that you are planning to sell your products.

Will they charge you for listing your vegetable products?

Yes, they will charge you as per their terms of trade & the final negotiation between you and them.

Can I just sell vegetables on Grofers (Blinkit)?

You can sell groceries, vegetables, fruits and other household items. If you can’t find the list of products that you want to sell in their category list, you can reach out to their customer support at helpdesk.sellers@grofers.com.

How to sell my vegetables on Swiggy (Instamart)?

Swiggy has started Instamart for delivering grocery items, in which you can sell your veggies. Once you start registration, it will take around 7-10 business working days to get your shop online on Swiggy. They will charge a one-time onboarding fee which will be deducted from your weekly payouts when you start getting orders from customers on Swiggy as well as the commissions depending on which cities you will be selling your vegetables to. Keep these documents ready for registration, you will need some documents and details ready to apply with ease. They are as follows:

  • FSSAI License copy (This is mandatory. If you have applied for a FSSAI license, then you can proceed with the acknowledgement number received from FSSAI.)
  • Aadhar copy (for KYC)
  • Your Restaurant Menu (Here you will need list of vegetables instead)

Unfortunately, you can’t sell vegetables on Zomato anymore as they have stopped the grocery services on its platforms since September 2021. Can I sell vegetables on Dukaan?

Yes, you can sell vegetables on Dukaan. There’s a whole lot of things you can sell on it. I have been noticing that Dukaan is getting recognition from a lot of places and its innovation and simplicity to add your products is worth mentioning. They have collaborated with Dunzo and Shiprocket for deliveries of your grocery products. Guess what? They have also kept readymade catalogues for fruits and vegetables, which will help you get things listed quicker in your store.

How to add a product in my store on Dukaan App ?

Step 1: On your store, Click on ‘Add new product’
Step 2: Add all details like product images, product name, category, MRP and selling price, quantity & unit, product description and variants (size, pricing and colours).

One cool thing that I came across on Dukaan is their product description tool, where you just have to enter a product name or category. For example, I wanted to search for a product description on ‘carrots’. I typed it and found auto-generated product descriptions. Each time a different one! How cool is that!

And I pressed ‘Generate description’ again, and then let the magic happen. Another, completely new product description is created!

Yes, you can sell vegetables on Amazon as a seller. Check out the Amazon Fresh section here. Amazon being one of the biggest delivery platforms for ecommerce products, you can leverage their platform for selling your vegetables.

How much does Amazon charge as commission for groceries?

The Amazon commission for selling grocery and gourmet products are as follows:

  • 2% for item price which is less than or equal to Rs. 300.
  • 4% for item price above Rs. 300 but less than or equal to Rs. 500.
  • 5.5% for item price above Rs. 500 but less than or equal to Rs. 1000.
  • 9.5% for item price above Rs. 1000.

This price varies time-to-time, so keep checking for revised prices with the Amazon seller support.
The payment cycle for selling groceries on Amazon is 7 days which will be directly deposited in your registered bank account.

Things you need before registering on Amazon as a seller for groceries:

  1. GST details
  2. PAN details
  3. Active bank account details
  4. FSSAI license as well as a declaration that your business is compliant with the food safety standards.
  5. Products mentioned in the ‘Negative list’ should not be listed in your store listing.

What about delivery of my products on Amazon?

The delivery of your vegetables can be done in three ways:

  • Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) where Amazon handles storing, packaging and delivery of your products. Also, these products are ‘Prime’ eligible.
  • Easy Ship (ES) where you store & pack the products, and Amazon delivers your product.
  • Self-Ship (SS) where you take care of storing, packing and delivering your products.

Amazon is also running a new ‘Local Shops on Amazon’ programme for sellers. The eligibility criteria are as follows:

  1. You should own a physical store/retail store/ kirana shop in any part of the country.
  2. You have to arrange the delivery facilities on your own for delivering orders on the same day/next day to your customers in the area.
  3. You must be able to provide any additional demo (if applicable) / installation services during delivery.

How to start selling on ‘Local Shops’ from Amazon?

If you are an already existing seller on Amazon, or you are trying to start as a new seller, you can register your shop on Local Shops on Amazon.

Step 1: Create an account for selling on Amazon, here: Local Shops on Amazon
Step 2: Upload product (vegetable) details
Step 3: Upload your product (vegetables) details and set the selling price.
Step 4: Choose the areas where you want to sell your vegetables. 

One thing to note is that Amazon wants you to do the delivery of your vegetables either on the same day, next day or a maximum of 2 days when you receive the order.

How about selling vegetables on Flipkart?

You can sell vegetables and fruits on Flipkart like any seller can do on other ecommerce businesses. Flipkart being one of the powerhouse ecommerce websites in India, you can attract a large amount of customers to your product listing.

What things are necessary to become a seller on Flipkart?

  1. GSTIN/TIN Number (not mandatory for few categories)
  2. PAN Card (Personal PAN for business type “Proprietorship” and Personal + Business PAN for business type as “Company”)
  3. Bank account details and supporting KYC documents (Address Proof, and Cancelled cheque)
  4. Minimum of 1 unique product to sell.

Once you have prepared all the above-details and kept ready, register your business at seller.flipkart.com. After successful registration, start listing your product under relevant product categories by setting up the prices you deem fit.

What fees does Flipkart charge the sellers?

  • They charge a commission fee which will be some percentage of your order’s value, which will also vary based on various categories.
  • A Shipping fee which will be calculated on factors like size, weight, location, etc.
  • Collection fee based on your product’s value and the fee based on the payment mode that the customer chooses.
  • A fixed fee which will be based on various slabs that they have set for products, that too can vary based on the item value.
  • Goods and Service Tax (GST) on all the above-mentioned points.

How does Flipkart pay the sellers?

Once an order is successfully dispatched, Flipkart will settle the payment for your products within 7-15 business days based on the seller tier you are listed on Flipkart. Also, Gold Sellers’ payment will be cleared in 7 business days. Payment clearance is 10 days and 15 days for Silver Sellers and Bronze sellers respectively. All the payments will be done through online banking (NEFT transactions).

How to sell vegetables on Dunzo?

You can sell groceries on Dunzo. Provide them with the details and let them have a look if your store selling vegetables would be a good fit for the Dunzo App. They will contact you within 5 business days if they find your business suitable enough to be listed on the app. Go to their website and in the top Menu section, click on ‘ Business with Dunzo’ > ‘Sell products on Dunzo’. This will take you to a form that you need to fill up for getting started.

On a side note, Dukaan App has also partnered up with Dunzo as the delivery partner. So you can pretty much rest assured that Dunzo has a good delivery competence.

They have not made any clear disclosure for registration of sellers online or released any information on the same that we could have retrieved.

How to sell my vegetables on the Meesho app?

Meesho app is the new entrant in the ecommerce world and claims to be the 0% commission app for sellers. Besides waiving off commission fee, Meesho doesn’t have a collection fee and no penalty for order cancellations. Now if you are wondering what’s the catch here, and how they earn, then the answer lies on other sources of income. Ads, Rank push and the data oil bring in money for them. Well, for sellers, probably this is good news who want to list their businesses which face the brunt of commissions on other ecommerce platforms. Well, let’s see how to list your business on Meesho.

You need to register with the Meesho app. You will be needing GSTIN and a valid Bank Account. Once registration is done, you have to upload a catalog of products that you want to sell. It takes around 72 hours for your catalog to go live. Meesho follows a 7-day payment cycle for payouts from the day of delivery.
